"CAU Porcine Array" Revolutionizes Porcine Breeding with Precision and Domestic Innovation

China, as the world's largest producer and consumer of pork, has long grappled with persistent challenges in pig breeding. Its breeding sector is mired in a cycle of productivity gaps, import dependency, and the recurring "import-degrade-reimport" dilemma. Traditional breeding practices overemphasize singular traits while neglecting comprehensive economic indicators, disease resilience, and lack genetic feedback loops, resulting in inefficient translation of research into practical outcomes. Genomic Selection (GS) technology—globally validated to boost genetic progress by 25-40% annually in leading firms—offers a transformative solution. However, its implementation faces hurdles: difficulty in building reference populations, high detection costs, and specialized bioinformatics expertise.
Pig Breeding Solution Based on CAU Porcine Array
To address these barriers, China Agricultural University, in collaboration with LASO Biotech and Glbizzia Biotechnology, has developed the CAU Porcine Array Series microarrays. The series includes high-density Pro and low-density Mini versions, designed for flexible, stage-specific deployment across breeding cycles to enable cost-effective, high-throughput genotyping. This solution emphasizes three core advantages: precision, autonomy, and efficiency, promoting the industry's transition toward modernization and intelligence.
